San Miguel Spot Guide

San Miguel is a consistently good right-hand point break north of Ensenada. It is known as the birthplace of Mexican surf culture. When it’s working, the long, hollow break will be really crowded. South swells are blocked by Punta Banda and the Todos Santos islands, but it loves a big west or northwest swell. And it can handle bigger swells than other local surf spots. The bigger the swell the better the wave quality. The break has a rocky bottom with a lot of urchins. Booties are recommended, especially at lower tides. You can camp or rent a trailer up to the beach. 3M’s is a good alternative if San Miguel is too crowded.
