Sandspit Spot Guide

Sandpit has been created by the shifting sand on the outer jetty of the Santa Barbara Harbor. It is a legendary, hollow right that can be mellow on bad days and a neck breaker on good days. When it’s working, although the occasions are rare, the line up will be packed. But if Sandpit is breaking, then likely there will be point breaks up and down the Santa Barbara coast that will be firing as well. Surf is best on a big west swell on a low tide. The rocks and the backwash can be hazardous even for experienced surfers.
