Sunset Cliffs Spot Guide

"Sunset Cliffs" is the name for a long stretch of rocky, reef break surf spots along the San Diego coast just south of Ocean Beach. The coastal kelp beds off of Sunset Cliffs tend to mitigate the effects of winds that can close out or roughen up other San Diego surf spots. Most of the surf breaks in the Sunset Cliffs region prefer a low to medium tide. One has several surf spots to choose from within the Sunset Cliffs area: from long, semi-mushy waves with a reliable paddle channel to hollower, high-performance waves at certain inside reef breaks on the right tides.
