Pacific Beach (PB) Spot Guide

Pacific Beach (aka PB) is a vibrant and busy beach community located within the San Diego city limits. It offers up a long stretch of sandy beach breaks, hyphenated by Crystal Pier. As with many beach breaks, quality of surf will depend upon the luck of finding a decent sand bar that plays nice with swell direction and tides. As with most piers and jetties, PB's Crystal Pier can sometimes groom incoming swell into quality waves. Pacific Beach is open to a fairly large swell window, taking in swell year-round. PB generally closes out from larger swells, maxing out at about head high+, with the exception being the far north end which encompasses the spots of Tourmaline and PB Point. PB's lineups will be a mixture of beginners to rippers and everything in between. It's a great place to hang out and learn to surf. Very popular with families and kids, and it is very crowded in summer.
