Imperial Beach Pier Spot Guide

Imperial Beach (aka IB) is the most southwesterly city in the United States, which means this is as far south as you can surf in California before crossing into another country. Head further south from IB and you will be surfing Mexican waters. Imperial Beach Pier enjoys southwest swells in the summertime that miss other spots in San Diego, and there are plenty of surf breaks along the beach to choose from. The surfing experience at Imperial Beach changes with the shifting sandbars but is generally best at medium tide. Often less crowded than most other surf spots in San Diego to the north.
