61st Street Spot Guide

The pier and jetty at 61st St. in Galveston keep the sand from shifting away and can produce lots of peaky surf spots to choose from. Typical of Gulf Coast surfing, you can find totally blown out conditions or nice peeling waves off the jetty. 61st St. can get hollow with the right conditions and is best at low tide. The west side of the pier has a good outside spot and the north side of the jetty has the best waves for shortboarders, but both sides can work.
