J.P. Luby Surf Park Spot Guide

At one time, JP Luby Park was a destination surf spot for Texas surfers. The pier was destroyed by a hurricane but the surf over the old pier and over the growing sandbars can still get good. Surf can get as hollow and powerful as the neighboring spot at Bob Hall Pier, without the crowds and competitive lineup. There are 2 jetties that have replaced the broken pier that break up the current and protect the surf spots from the strong gulf winds. Besides the surf, JP Luby Park is known as a party destination for spring breakers opting out of the famed South Padre Island.
