El Cardon Spot Guide

El Cardon is an exposed point break south of Punta Maria on Baja’s Pacific coast. It is one of Baja's fabled Seven Sisters and only works on large west or northwest swells. South swells are blocked by Isla Cedros and the landmass surrounding Bahia Tortugas, terminating at Punta Eugenia to the south. The small headland can create a long, right-hand wave on a strong west or northwest swell. El Cardon generally pulls in more consistent surf than it's neighbor Punta Maria to the north, owing to it's larger swell window. Like most of the 7 Sisters, it is a long, brutal drive that will uncover any weaknesses in your vehicle and may loosen some nuts & bolts along the way. There are no services anywhere nearby. A four-wheel drive vehicle in good condition, plenty of water, supplies and gas, and a healthy sense of adventure is recommended.
