Spoils Spot Guide

Spoils is a Fort Lauderdale surf spot that is north of the Port Everglades Inlet. Spoils is one of the few South Florida breaks that can handle big waves. When the conditions are right, usually when hurricane winds are offshore or on a strong NNE swell, this spot can go off. Waves break over an island that was created by the dredging of the ocean floor for the inlet. It is a long 200-meter paddle to the take off points, against a strong current when the water is leaving the inlet, but those factors make it a relatively quiet, uncrowded spot.
