Sitka is a seaside town on Baranof Island on the Alaskan panhandle. The town faces the Gulf of Alaska head on. For Alaska standards surfing is easily accessible. There is year round ferry service to the island from Juneau and beach breaks close to the center of town. Sandy Beach, which is actually pretty rocky, is a popular local spot that needs a big SW swell to get really good. Other areas may see bigger, better waves but Sitka is top notch for convenience and water temps are said to be warmer.
